The Mexican Revolution was a period of armed struggle and political upheaval in Mexico that lasted from 1910 to 1920. It was a significant social, political, and cultural movement that sought to overthrow the dictatorship of President Porfirio Díaz, who had been in power for more than three decades and had created an increasingly unequal society with widespread poverty, landlessness, and labor exploitation.

The revolution began on November 20, 1910, when the revolutionary leader Francisco I. Madero called for an armed uprising against Díaz. Over the next ten years, various revolutionary factions fought for control of Mexico, including Madero's followers, Emiliano Zapata's Zapatistas, and Pancho Villa's Northern Division.

The revolution resulted in a new constitution in 1917, which established a democratic and federal republic and provided for the redistribution of land and resources to the people. It also paved the way for a more equitable and just society; however, the promises of the revolution were not fully realized, and Mexico continued to face social and political challenges in the following decades.
