The "Cap and Rays" series refers to a type of Mexican silver coins that were issued between 1823 and 1897. The name "Cap and Rays" comes from the design on the obverse side of the coin, which features a liberty cap and rays of sunlight emanating from it. The reverse side of the coin features the Mexican coat of arms, with an eagle perched on a cactus and holding a snake in its beak.
